Taught by great masters and raised in the Kingdom of Glass by the glassblowing elite, Micke Johan is extremely creative and has a unique artistic talent. This results in art glass that has never before been possible to make. It is only now, with the ability to handle the 1000 degree glass mass on the glassblower's barrel and shape the glass with the techniques of ariel and graal, that this has become possible. He experiments and challenges the techniques. The Ariel technique, loosely translated as 'spirit of air', was invented by Gustav Bergkvist in 1936 and is considered to be by far the most difficult glassblowing technique. Ariel is an art glass developed from the Grail technique. In the ariel technique, a glass substance consisting of several layers of different colors is processed on the surface of the glass. The result is characterized by the fact that in addition to patterns in different colors, differently shaped air bubbles are included that form formations around the colored patterns.
Micke Johansson has developed his own ariel technique, called MJT (Micke Johan Johansson technique). Micke is the only master in the world to master double ariel with the MJT technique.
The name Ariel comes from the air spirit in Shakespeare's - The Tempest.
