Bertil Vallien

Born in 1938, Bertil Vallien studied at Konstfack in Stockholm and continued his studies in the USA before settling in Glasriket in the early 1960s. His time at BODA involved working with both glass and forging, where he collaborated with the prominent glass artist Erik Höglund. Vallien later came to focus on glass design at Åfors and later Kosta Glassworks. His oeuvre ranges from everyday objects to monumental public works. With international awards and representation in museums around the world, he is recognized as an innovator in glass art. He is also active in artistic education at universities and design schools.
