The Ariel technique, loosely translated as "spirit of air", was invented by Gustav Bergkvist in 1936 and is considered the absolute most difficult glass blowing technique. Ariel is an art glass developed from the Grail technique. In the ariel technique, a glass substance consisting of several layers of different colors is processed on the surface of the glass. The result is characterized by the fact that in addition to patterns in different colors, differently shaped air bubbles are included that form formations around the colored patterns.
Micke Johansson has developed his own ariel technique, called MJT (Micke Johan Johansson technique). Micke is the only master in the world who has mastered double ariel with the MJT technique. What is very unusual about Micke Johansson is that he himself both blows, manufactures and shapes the art glass and all this in world class, where everything is done to perfection.
The name Ariel comes from the air spirit in Shakespeare's - The Tempest.
A heavy solid Ariel vase in beautiful blue coloring with patterns in undulating flowers by one of the world's foremost glass blowers in the very difficult Ariel technique.
