Reijmyre Glassworks was founded in 1810 and is one of Sweden's oldest and still active glassworks. The reason for the start was partly the large supply of trees that were then used to fire the furnaces, as well as the rich supply of quartz.Another fact that made many glassworks started at this time was the fact that Sweden had lost Finland and thus access to the Finnish glassworks, which thus created a greater need for glassworks in Sweden, which was encouraged with privileges by the Royal College of Commerce.
The Reijmyre factory is known for genuine craftsmanship and stylish design in both clear crystal and colored glass. At Reijmyre everything is made entirely by hand. Reijmyre is perhaps best known for its distinctive glass design, combined with form and function in fantastic colors, especially red, green and blue.
The international breakthrough for Reijmyre's Jugendglas came at the exhibition of modern crafts in Turin in 1902. Reijmyre's most famous artist is perhaps Monica Bratt. Monica worked at Reijmyre from 1937 to 1958. Monica Bratt has designed classic and functional glass in beautiful colors. Her firm belief was that any given color should emphasize the glass design to visually express the right character. Even today, parts of Monica Bratt's classic design are manufactured and can be found in our webshop.
